We have block parties in our park at least twice a year.  This was the first one of 2010.  We had such a great turn-out.  The kids filled water balloons...
We had sack races...
Then the kids used the water balloons on each other.  What fun they had!!!

And look at all the people who came to celebrate spring and their love of Verrado with us.  We really DO have the BEST neighborhood.

Friday fun

Quinn has been sick the last couple of days, so we have been cooped up in the house with down time.  So Quinn brought out the little table and chair, set it up in the living room and started to build a tech deck skatepark out of cardboard and tape.

He is in his glory.  And MAN is he ever creative!!!  I love watching him build.  He has great and practical ideas.  The little tech deck dudes are gonna LOVE him!  LOL

Sloane got fake money with a cash drawer from the dollar store today.  So when we came home, we played HOTEL.  She checked me in and informed me that lunch was being served soon after.  I bought several things with my money and she gave me change.

She was loving figuring out how much change I would get back each time.

Hop, hop, hop

You remember the days when you would endlessly hop on the hopscotch squares.

Well, Sloane is doing EXACTLY that.  She asked me to draw a hopscotch for her today.  So I went right out and drew it out.  She asked for 1 - 10.  But I explained to her that it would be easier if it went to 12 so she would be able to land on two feet at the end and turn around instead of one foot.  So she agreed and I drew 12.

Then she proceeded to hop on it for the next hour.  Pretty soon after she started, three of her little friends came to join her.  I was busy talking to the moms, so I forgot to take pictures of them.  But it was very cute to see them lined up waiting to take their turns.

Magic Tree House books

I ran across the Magic Tree House books and set them out to see if there was any interest in reading them.

And sure enough!  Sloane saw them sitting on the table and asked if we could read them.

You bet!!  So we started last night.  Then this morning they woke up and wanted to finish the story.

While I was reading, they both kept themselves busy ~ Sloane colored the bottom of her shoes...

And Quinn continuously made Tech Deck ramps out of cardboard and tape.

He taped them to the floor so they would stay put long enough to use with the tech deck.

Cute shoe bottoms, Sloane.

Sloane wanted to make banana bread today

So, she did everything.  She is quite the helper in the kitchen.

The loaves are ready to go into the oven.

Oh man, that batter is GOOD!

They are cookin' right along.

Sloane is waiting patiently for the bread to finish cooking.

Quinn is ready for practice

Bread's done!!

Oops!!  Sloane fell asleep waiting for the time to go off.
